judging

Ito po ang magandang paliwanag sa “judging” na kailangang gawin ng bawat Kristyano. Mula po ito sa isang pinaka-batikan na evangelical-pentecostal theologian-pastor. Pakibasa po.

————————-

“Judgmental ka,” “Self-righteous ka,” “Mayabang ka,” “Ano, ikaw perfect?” Sabi sa bible Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge.”

Many people use this verse in an attempt to silence their critics. Akala nila ang ibig sabihin ng do not judge ay “You don’t have the right to tell me I’m wrong.” “You do not have the right to rebuke me.”

Let’s understand the context of the text. Immediately after Jesus says, “Do not judge,” He says, “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs” (Matthew 7:6). A little later in the same sermon, He says, “Watch out for false prophets. . . . By their fruit you will recognize them” (verses 15–16).

How are we to discern who are the “dogs” and “pigs” and “false prophets” unless we have the ability to make a judgment call? Jesus is giving us permission to judge right from wrong.

The Bible clearly teaches that truth is objective, eternal, and inseparable from God’s character. Anything that contradicts the truth is a lie. To call something a “lie” is to pass judgment. To call stealing or murder a sin is likewise to pass judgment—but it’s also to agree with God.

Matthew 7:1-2 NIV
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

When Jesus said do not judge, He did not mean that no one can identify sin for what it is. Ang ibig sabihin lang ay the same standard you use to judge the other person is the same standard you use upon yourself. If you demand the other to be honest, you have to uphold honesty yourself, etc.

Hinihikayat ng biblia ang pagtutuwid ng mali at pagsasabi nang totoo.

Bago sabihin ni Jesus na “Do not judge” (Matt. 7:1), sinabi niya muna: “You are the light of the world. Let your light shine before others” (Matt. 5:15-16).

Bahagi ng pagiging ilaw ang paggawa ng kabutihan at pagtatama ng mali at mga kasinungalingan. Yan ay pananagutan ng mga nagsasabing disipulo sila ni Kristo.
